Giessen and Marburg University Hospital (UKGM) offers medical care, modern diagnostics and comprehensive therapy at the highest international level. As a maximum-care hospital it covers the entire spectrum of modern medicine - from ophthalmology to trauma surgery and dentistry. It is the third largest university hospital in the Federal Republic of Germany. At its two sites in Giessen and Marburg, around 436,000 patients are treated annually in 80 clinics: 342,000 on an outpatient basis and 94,000 on the wards. Around 9,600 employees work here in a wide variety of professions - including many doctors and nurses, of course, but also laboratory technicians, physiotherapists, engineers, computer experts and cooks.
