The Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History (Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung - ZZF) is an interdisciplinary research institute based in Potsdam, Germany. The Centre’s focus is contemporary German and European history. The ZZF was founded in 1992 in the wake of the German unification process and has been an institute of the Leibniz Association since 2009. The ZZF Potsdam is led by the Directors Prof. Dr. Frank Bösch and Prof. Dr. Martin Sabrow. The institute’s academic research is currently organized in four departments: Communism and Society (Heads of Department: Dr. Jens Gieseke and Prof. Dr. Thomas Lindenberger), Economic Thought and Practise (Head of Department: Priv.-Doz. Dr. Rüdiger Graf), Contemporary History of the Media and Information Society (Heads of Department: Dr. Jürgen Danyel and Priv.-Doz. Dr. Annette Vowinckel), Regimes of the Social Sphere (Head of Department: Priv.-Doz. Dr. Thomas Schaarschmidt).
