The Computer Science Department, Faculty of Sciences, University of Geneva announces the opening of One Professor Position (Tenure Track Assistant/Associate).

Description

  • Associate Professor: 6 hours of teaching and seminars per week.
  • Tenure Track Assistant Professor: 4 hours of teaching and seminars per week.
  • The courses are at the Bachelor and Master Levels.
  • Courses’ Language: The courses at the Bachelor level are given in French (the accepted candidate must be able to give courses in French as soon as possible).
  • The courses at the Master level can be given in French or English.
  • Tenure Track Assistant Professor promotion terms: The Tenure Track Assistant professor has a 3 year contract, which is renewable for 3 more years. At the end of his or her mandate the candidate, based on academic achievements, will either be promoted to a tenured position or the contract will be terminated.
  • The Tenure Track Assistant professor will have two evaluations during his or her mandate towards a tenured position of Associate or Full Professor. The first evaluation will take place at the end of the second year of the term. The evaluation committee will propose either the renewal of the mandate for another three years or the termination of the contract. The second evaluation will take place one year before the end of the second term and the evaluation committee will decide to either award a tenured position or to terminate the contract.

Requirements

The candidate must have a research and teaching record in one or more of the following areas of computer science: management and modelling of trust, security and privacy when handling multimedia data, knowledge management and information search, massively distributed information retrieval. The successful candidate will have to develop high level research in the above domains, at the national and international levels, in collaboration with research groups at the Computer Science Department (?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcui.unige.ch%2FDI&module=jobs&id=1218984" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcui.unige.ch%2FDI&module=jobs&id=1218984" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://cui.unige.ch/DI) and at the University Centre for Informatics (CUI, ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcui.unige.ch&module=jobs&id=1218984" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcui.unige.ch&module=jobs&id=1218984" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://cui.unige.ch)), and leading to the direction of Ph.D. and M.Sc. theses. The candidate is expected to raise funds to support his or her research projects.
