Description

Your mission

Your mission will be to innovate and develop laser powder-bed fusion (LPBF) process for a fine detailed resolution of complex geometries systems for industrial applications.

Your responsibilities

  • Process innovation and development of end-to-end manufacturing process for complex parts involving high accuracy for additive manufacturing laser-based technique
  • Develop and improve LPBF process parameters targeting the highest accuracy, in particular for the AM of parts including complex geometries with additional functions
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with design engineers: participate to the design and anticipate manufacturing issues. Propose smart ideas for the implementation of parts on build plates to reach minimum defects. Prepare high quality build jobs
  • Develop and execute internal R&D topics that align with CSEM’s AM roadmap and advance the team’s technical capabilities
  • Expand and optimize post-process treatments and surface finishing
  • Understand business and technology needs and develop technology AM-based solutions for pursuit in new project opportunities
  • Write clear, and accurate technical proposals and reports that capture the project requirements and deliverables
  • Provide strategic input into the AM technical roadmap
  • Setup, operate, and perform daily maintenance on LPBF equipment and assure training of new team members

Requirements

Your profile

Know-how

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of post-PhD work experience with the powder-based additive manufacturing process development
  • Proven knowledge of working with different type of metal-based materials.
  • Strong experience with AM-related software (Magics, nTopology, etc.) and CAD software (Solidworks 2020 preferred) and familiar with programming languages such as Python and MATLAB
  • Ability to run Design of Experiment (DoE) on process parameter development
  • Hands-on experience on post treatment methods for 3D printed parts, such as heat treatment, HIP, surface finishing

  • Self-management, organized and disciplined in control and quality issues
  • Out of the box thinking and innovative
  • Strong communication skills: ability to communicate with a diverse community of technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Open-minded attitude and well-developed team-spirit
