The School of Basic Sciences of EPFL and the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) invite applications for a tenured professor at EPFL who will also be Leader of a new group at PSI devoted to advancing new physical and mathematical methods for imaging at PSI. The holder of this joint EPFL-PSI position will develop new imaging paradigms inspired by disciplines ranging from quantum technologies to data science to fully exploit the new high brilliance X-ray sources SLS 2.0 and SwissFEL. | |
DescriptionApplications are encouraged from leaders in the field of imaging, with strong interest in, and particular achievements relevant to, accelerator-based short wavelength photon sources. As a faculty member of the EPFL School of Basic Sciences and head of group at PSI , the successful candidate will be expected to initiate an independent and creative research program with laboratories located at PSI and doctoral students from EPFL as well as participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching. The successful candidate will also participate in the provision of support to users of PSI imaging facilities, and in enlarging the community of such users from EPFL and PSI. They will also play a key role in strengthening collaboration with established industries and startups. | |

The successful candidate’s main research activities will be undertaken at PSI while teaching, complementary research and other academic activities will be performed at EPFL.
