Job Summary The Patke lab is searching for a highly motivated and dependable individual to assist with research into human sleep timing. The work includes standard molecular and cell biology techniques as well as specialized assays related to circadian clock function. In addition, the individual will help with general lab maintenance and organization. Job Duties Help with laboratory organization. Generation of common laboratory reagents. Molecular biology tasks including cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid purification. SDS-PAGE and Western blotting. Cell culture tasks including maintenance of mammalian cell lines, transient transfection, and lentiviral transduction. Functional assays for measuring the circadian clock. A highly motivated and qualified candidate may develop independent projects. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field required. At least one year of experience in a biology research laboratory (can include thesis work). Practical experience in molecular and cell biology techniques. Ability to record and report results with clarity. Must be detail-oriented and perform precise work in a neat and orderly manner. Persistence and willingness to troubleshoot technical challenges. Motivation to learn and master new methods and techniques. The ability to work as part of a team. Excellent organization and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Direct laboratory experience involving molecular cloning and cell biology. Required Documents Resume
