Principal Research Associate in Digital Roads (Fixed Term)

A position exists, for a Principal Research Associate in Digital Roads in the Department of Engineering, to work on the Digital Roads of the Future (DRF) initiative.

The post holder will be located in the Civil Engineering Building, 7a JJ Thomson Ave, CB3 0FA, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are to provide technical leadership and coordination to the DRF initiative via research advancement within its existing grants in the form of digital platform architectures and software and hardware systems integration; authoring new grant proposals; authoring publications and disseminating the initiative’s outcomes; administration, financial management, planning and organisation; staff management, training, and mentoring; and internal and external networking, while constantly upholding the university’s values.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are: (i) having obtained a PhD degree in any Engineering discipline, Computer Science or Architecture; (ii) possessing significant previous academic experience as Senior Research Associate, Assistant Professor, Lecturer, or equivalent, with emphasis on research supervision experience; (iii) possessing a very strong academic track record with high quality publications related to digital platforms or digital systems integration and of research methods and techniques to develop research objectives, projects, and proposals; (iii) possessing previous project and financial management experience; (iv) possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary Ranges: Principal Research Associate: £61,818 - £71,638

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2027 in the first instance.
