Chapman University seeks applications for a non-tenure track Instructional Assistant Professor of School Psychology in the Donna Ford Attallah College of Educational Studies starting August 2022.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D./Ed.D/Psy.D.) by the start of employment in school psychology or related fields from an accredited institution is required.
  • Familiarity with the NASP model.
  • Demonstrated potential of effective teaching at the graduate level, especially with courses focused on mental health, social-emotional assessment, and intervention.
  • Demonstrated ability to build beneficial and productive working relationships within the university and public education communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise school psychology fieldwork and teach graduate courses directly related to school psychology and mental health.
  • CA credential (or equivalent) and 5 years of professional experience in school psychology.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in education and must be willing to contribute to the University Diversity and Inclusion plan.
  • CA licensure or eligibility for licensure as an LPCC, MFT, LCSW or Psychologist (LPCC preferred).

    Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to teach courses across CSP program courses (i.e., school counseling, school psychology, clinical counseling) as needed.
  • Active engagement in providing professional development to school psychologists.
  • Active involvement in state and national professional organizations.
  • Ability to mentor doctoral students.
  • Three or more years of experience providing educationally related mental health services in a K-12 school setting.
  • Expertise and facility with technology, including remote instruction.
  • Experience with development and implementation of innovative clinical and school psychology programs.
  • Ability to design and implement program and course assessment tools.
  • Experience serving and/or teaching in underserved communities.
  • Ability to build beneficial and productive working relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration.

    The successful candidate will teach, advise, and mentor students across the Counseling and School Psychology (CSP) Programs, particularly those in the School Psychology track and in the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) emphasis. These programs prepare students to effectively serve as school psychologists, clinical counselors, and school counselors in a range of organizations, collaborating with individuals, families, communities, and schools toward an inclusive, equitable, and just world.

    This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that requires work to be performed in the State of California and has in-person teaching responsibilities and required on-campus availability at Chapman’s Orange campus.

  • Stay informed of research and cutting edge practices in the field of school psychology, clinical counseling, supervision, and mental health.
  • Actively contribute as an integral member of the school counseling and school psychology faculty in the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of the overall program and its curriculum.
  • Actively participate in the continuing education of school counselors, clinical counselors and/or school psychologists through presentations at conferences, school district partnerships, and local professional organizations.
  • Provide academic advising and professional mentorship to school counseling and school psychology students and alumni.
  • Actively participate in the design, implementation, and interpretation of assessment systems that evaluate the efficacy of the school psychology program.
