Assistant Professor of Data Science

Franklin University Switzerland seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Data Science. The position is full-time, renewable and with a clear promotion ladder. The position begins in August 2022, pending funding.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. at the time of hire with specialization in Data Science or a related field and teaching and research interests in basic and applied statistics, particularly to the fields of environmental science, business management, and /or psychology. Of particular interest are individuals with expertise in Bayesian methods, multivariate analysis, modelling, and big data. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and advise in the current undergraduate programs in mathematics, business, and environmental science, contribute to the development of and eventually teach in graduate programs, develop their own research program, and serve as a resource on quantitative methods for other faculty and for student research. A normal course load at Franklin is six (3 credit or 6 ECTS) courses per year, including a course with an Academic Travel component. One course equivalent may be applied through service as an advisor for other faculty and student research.

Consistent with the mission of the University, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarship, have an active research agenda, and contribute to the Academic Travel program, a fundamental part of Franklin’s international, interdisciplinary, intercultural curriculum. Ideally, candidates will be conversant in one of the official languages of Switzerland and have an interest in interdisciplinary teaching. Experience with Swiss/EU funded projects is a plus.
