As the chief academic and executive officer of the College, the candidate will possess (a) outstanding scholarly credentials, including recognition as an accomplished academic leader both nationally and internationally; (b) a demonstrated commitment to research innovations across disciplines, undergraduate and graduate education, outreach, and equity and social justice; (c) a demonstrated commitment to attracting, retaining and advancing a diverse and superior faculty, student body, and staff; (d) the capacity to be a visible leader in the State of Illinois on educational issues; (e) outstanding leadership, administrative, and communication skills to interact effectively with all stakeholders and to be a strong advocate for the College and its mission; (f) a record of administrative experience that demonstrates a thorough understanding of financial management and the need to maximize current resources and create new types of resources for the College; and (g) a record of experience in working with all college stakeholder including current and potential donors to support college initiatives and activities. Candidates must hold an earned doctoral degree and have a distinguished record of scholarly research, teaching and service accomplishments commensurate with an appointment at the rank of full professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The Dean of the College of Education reports to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and is a senior administrative position with a seat on the Provost’s Council of Deans. This full-time, 12-month appointment has a negotiable start date with salary commensurate with experience.
