Description

Your tasks Modern analytical chemistry plays a pivotal role in life sciences. The School of Life Sciences therefore facilitates education and applied research at the highest level in this field, with the most modern infrastructure and expertise. We invite applications for a permanent employment as a professor – with the following tasks:
  • establishing and leading an independent research group
  • applying analytical methods and instruments to real-world life science issues with commercial and societal impact
  • maintaining and enhancing analytical platforms for applied research and practical training, available to all departments of the School of Life Sciences
  • promoting collaboration within the university, as well as joint research with regional, national and international industrial and academic research partners
  • active involvement in professional networks, conferences and scientific publications to increase the visibility of the university within the scientific and industrial community
  • committed contribution to teaching at the university with a clear link to your research activities, as well as to the university’s goals

Requirements

Your profile You have wide-ranging and in-depth expertise and you share our enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students, as well as for collaborating with colleagues, staff and project partners. In addition, we expect:
  • PhD and excellent knowledge of the function and application of modern analytical instruments (for example MS, NMR, GC, IR, UV)
  • knowledge of and experience with the automation of analytical procedures as well as the evaluation of analytical data
  • an outstanding track record in applied research, ideally with at least five years of industrial experience in staff and project management
  • a university teaching qualification or the commitment to acquire this during the first years
  • strong English and German language skills, both written and spoken
  • keen interest in diverse issues in life sciences and enthusiasm for collaborating with academic colleagues
