The University Research Priority Program (URPP) "Evolution in Action: From Genomes to Ecosystems" is an interdisciplinary program of the University of Zurich (UZH). It aims at the integration of diverse research groups through focusing on a common research topic by using the novel technologies of the genomic revolution and applying them to both model and non-model systems. The URPP Evolution in Action brings together more than 100 scientists interested in evolutionary questions. It thus plays an important integrative role for diverse biological disciplines at the UZH.

As postdoc in Prof. Ueli Grossniklaus’ group (?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.botinst.uzh.ch%2Fen%2Fresearch%2Fdevelopment%2Fgrossnik%2Fresearch.html&module=jobs&id=2269544" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.botinst.uzh.ch%2Fen%2Fresearch%2Fdevelopment%2Fgrossnik%2Fresearch.html&module=jobs&id=2269544" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.botinst.uzh.ch/en/research/development/grossnik/research.html) you will contribute to a range of collaborative projects on the evolutionary genomics of animals, plants, and microbes, whose common thread is the analysis of high-throughput sequencing or functional genomic data. You will interact as embedded Bioinformatician with community members having very diverse backgrounds and research projects, unified by their interests in evolution and life’s fundamental organizational principles.

We are looking specifically for a person holding a doctorate or equivalent, who is highly self-motivated and independent, having strong teaching experience and willing to support the computational research of his collaborators in a team-effort. Strong data analysis experience using R/Bioconductor and fluency in a major scripting language such as Python/ Perl is required, and experience in software development is a plus. The successful candidate will have experience with computational analyses of high-throughput sequencing data in genomics or population genomics. The working language in the laboratory is English. German skills, although helpful, are not essential. Applications with a demonstrated interest in evolutionary biology will be preferably considered.
