Position Description:

The Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics at the University of Guelph invites applications for a 2-year contractually-limited appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are seeking a colleague with a PhD and a scholarly specialization in Human or Human-Environment Geography. The anticipated start date for the position is August 1st, 2022 with active teaching commencing on the Guelph campus in September 2022.

Required Qualifications: a PhD in Human or Human-Environment Geography or a closely related discipline; demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching including experience with course leadership and delivery.

Preferred Qualifications: experience across several modes of delivery (large lectures, seminars, online); experience and capacity for innovation in experiential education, community engaged learning and/or inclusive pedagogy; advising or mentoring at the undergrad or graduate level; ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: resource geography, urban geography, political ecology and environmental governance.

While a significant component of the position is teaching, a research program complementing departmental strengths, including scholarship on teaching and learning, is an asset. Additional duties will pertain to student recruitment and advising and participation on departmental, and/or college committees.

The Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics consists of 18 full-time faculty, is home to four undergrad degree programs and four graduate programs.
