Description

Your tasks:
  • design, synthesize and characterize a series of new organic compounds endowed with catalytic properties
  • plan and execute syntheses of a series of novel hybrid bioconjugates and nanoconjugates as wells as a series of new organic compounds endowed with catalytic properties
  • assess the bioconjugation efficiency of the newly produced compounds with proteins and nanosystems (e.g., nanoparticles and nanotubes) by means of modern methods of mass spectrometry and microscopy (AFM, SEM, cryo-EM)
  • study of the catalytic properties of novel hybrid bioconjugates and their use for a series of targeted applications

The salary will be according to the Swiss National Science Foundation regulations. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the doctoral program of the University of Basel.

Requirements

Your profile:
  • MSc in chemistry or related field (preferably specialized in organic synthetic chemistry)
  • talented and enthusiastic chemistry student with a strong passion for scientific research, decided to engage in doctoral studies
  • strong knowledge of bioconjugate methods, protein chemistry and/or biocatalysis would be considered as assets
  • good written and oral communications skills in English are required; good command of German is an asset
  • motivation to work in a multidisciplinary project involving several EU academic groups and companies
