Description

You will contribute to the modeling and development of the free-electron laser facility SwissFEL with a particular focus on external beam manipulation and seeding for the soft X-ray beamline Athos or other new operation modes to provide unique FEL pulse properties to the SwissFEL users. You will also support the operation of the machine with your involvement in machine set-up and development and the maintenance of advanced modes during user run times.

Requirements

  • PhD in accelerator physics and profound knowledge of free-electron lasers and linear accelerators, including practical experience at a running facility
  • Experience with numerical modeling of accelerators and FEL is required
  • You have intermediate or advanced programming skills (preferably Python or C++)
  • You enjoy working in a diverse team and communicate efficiently in English. If you do not speak German, you are willing to strive for at least a basic level in that language.
