The EPFL Signal Processing Laboratory (LTS5, Prof. Thiran) and the Laboratory of Astrophysics (LASTRO , Prof. Kneib & Dr Tolley), jointly with the Biomedical and Astronomical Signal Processing Laboratory at Heriot-Watt Edinburgh (BASP, Prof. Wiaux), are recruiting a
DescriptionThe position is open in the context of an award from the EPFL imaging centre, promoting synergies between multiple facets of imaging research, from theory and algorithms to applications. The project will contemplate a new generation of computational imaging algorithms at the interface of deep learning, optimisation, and Bayesian sampling, with primary application to radio astronomical imaging, but also magnetic resonance and ultrasound imaging in medicine.
| |
RequirementsWe are looking for outstanding candidates with a PhD in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have expertise in computational imaging, with: (i) a theory focus (algorithms for image reconstruction, including calibration and uncertainty quantification), with particular interest in deep learning, optimisation, or Bayesian sampling methods, and/or (ii) an application focus (from astronomical to medical imaging, specifically radio-astronomical, magnetic resonance, or ultrasound imaging), including simulation work and real data processing.

We offerThe position is based at EPFL with the expectation that the postholder will undertake regular collaboration visits to Heriot-Watt Edinburgh.
Contact and AddressApplications should consist of a single PDF (including a motivation letter, CV, publication list, and names of 3 references) and be submitted via the EPFL Job Portal. The screening of candidates will start in January 2023 and continue until the position is filled.
