The Lucerne School of Information Technology is the first school in a Swiss university of applied sciences to be devoted to IT. The new Zug-Rotkreuz campus offers bachelor degree programmes in Digital Ideation, Computer Science, Information and Cyber Security, International IT Management and Business Information Technology and master’s degree programmes in Engineering and Business Information Technology. Rounding out the School’s offer are attractive continuing education courses and applied research and services. It is one of six Schools making up the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts with its 1800-plus staff and 11,500 or so degree and continuing education students.

Senior Researcher / Researcher in Data Science (60-100%)
Description
Research and development of innovative solutions in the field of Data Science in the context of Smart Systems
Interest in extending the state-of-the-art of such solutions to different applications and domains
Actively participate in applied research projects in the field of the activities of the Mobile and Smart Systems Team of the Systems and Software Research Lab
Support our research team in the acquisition of new projects, take responsibility in projects and independently and collaboratively investigate research questions
Willingness to cooperate in the development of the Lab including supporting teaching activities and supervise student projects as well as our national and international cooperations
Requirements
Curiosity and a passion for research
Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree and a willingness to undertake master’s studies at Hochschule Luzern will be acceptable for exceptional candidates
Experience in analysing (sensor) data and developing software systems comprising algorithms to extract knowledge
Good analytical and conceptual skills
Experience in writing scientific publications, or willingness to learn
Fluency in written and spoken German and/or English; German advantageous (or willingness to learn)
Ability to work in a team in a constructive and result-oriented way and willingness to take on responsibilities proactively
