Agroscope is looking for a: Postdoc position: SMart Agriculture using Lasers and Artificial intelligence (SMALA) The reduction of pesticide use in agriculture has become a major socio economic and environmental concern. Disease forecasting models based on weather data help the growers to spray when infection conditions are present but the information on the actual presence of the pathogen is often missing. The project SMALA aims to develop novel approaches and technologies, involving photonics, internet of things, and artificial intelligence in order to enable a real time detection of pathogen presence in the field and integrate this information in fore-casting models. The work will concentrate on fungal pathogens in vineyards (downy and powdery mildew). The project is the result of a collaboration between the Group of Applied Physics of the University of Geneva and the Mycology Group at Agroscope Changins/Nyon. The project is funded by the Bridge Discovery joint program of SNSF and Innosuisse. About us Agroscope is the Swiss federal centre of excellence for research in the agriculture and food sector. Its researchers carry out their work at a number of sites in Switzerland. Headquartered in Bern-Liebefeld (as of 2025: Posieux FR), Agroscope is attached to the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER. | |
