Thouless Postdoctoral Fellowship Position DescriptionThe Thouless Institute for Quantum Matter at the University of Washington is pleased to invite applicants to the David J. Thouless Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Thouless Fellowship awards are intended to support outstanding early career researchers in the field of quantum matter, ranging from condensed matter and atomic physics to materials science and quantum-based devices, who have recently been awarded, or who are about to be awarded, their Ph.D. degree or equivalent.2025-2028 Thouless Fellowships: Nomination deadline September 22, 2024. Completed application deadline October 22, 2024.
Applicants cannot have had more than two years (24 months) of postdoctoral experience from other institutions at the time of appointment. Nominees may not hold a paid or unpaid position on the UW Seattle campus at the time of nomination or throughout the competition and award cycle. Eligible nominees will be invited to apply for the fellowship after the nomination has been reviewed and accepted. Direct applications or self-nominations are not accepted. Postdoctoral Scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. The base salary range for this position will be $7,000/month ($84,000/year), or as mandated by the U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
