School of Architecture and Built Environment at KTHProject descriptionThird-cycle subject: Civil and Architectural Engineering This project is funded by the Swedish Competence Centre in Road Technology (KCV) for four years. The aim of project is to increase the knowledge about Cold Mix Asphalt (CMA) - a technology that reduces resource usage, energy consumption, and environmental impact of road construction and maintenance. Your tasks in the project include conducting experiments and numerical modelling on bitumen emulsions, binders, and CMA mixtures. In addition, you will also use Finite Element analyses and a Life Cycle Assessment framework to evaluate the impact of the CMA technology on road sustainability. This project is a collaboration between KTH and VTI - the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute. You will be employed by KTH for the first two years until the licentiate degree and will then be able to apply for employment by VTI for another two years with continued admission at KTH towards the doctoral degree.
