The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) invites applications for two position PhD students in the area of algorithms at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI) within the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI), located in Lugano. The degree of employment is 100%, with a contract starting on November 1, 2025, or on a mutually agreed date.

Description

The selected candidate conducts advanced research. In particular:
  • Design and analysis of algorithms and data structures, with a special focus on approximation algorithms.
  • Moderate teaching duties as TA for classes at USI and SUPSI.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Mathematics or related areas (obtained or close to be obtained).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
