Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Biochemistry

Description

The Department of Biochemistry at the University of Geneva offers a highly dynamic and stimulating research environment. It is reknown worldwide for its research at the frontier between life sciences and quantitative sciences (physics, chemistry).

The Department of Biochemistry is opening a position of tenure-track assistant professor in Biochemistry. This is a full-time position.

Duties include teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Moreover, the successful candidate will supervise masters’ and doctoral theses.

The successful candidate will develop a research program at the highest international level and secure external funding. The successful candidate will use molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry techniques to develop a creative and original research, with a possible interface with chemistry, physics, computer sciences or mathematics. The candidate could be recruited on a research theme of the NCCR Chemical Biology, among which are: membranes, intracellular trafficking, dynamics and mechanics of tissues and cells, or cell signalling. Many other themes, such as immunity and host-pathogen interactions, are also possible.

The candidate will have to fulfill management and organizational duties within the Department of Biochemistry and the Faculty.

Requirements

  • PhD degree or equivalent.
  • Publication in international top journals.
  • Experience in research and teaching welcome
