Charles Perkins Centre’s decade of discovery

Over 10 years, the Charles Perkins Centre has made significant inroads in the fight against chronic diseases, such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. Ten years ago, the anonymous donation of a Picasso painting provided a $20.7 milllion kickstart for the Charles Perkins Centre and its vision of a multidisciplinary approach to tackling chronic disease. A decade on, the CPC's collaborative research, industry partnerships and some more unexpected collaborations - many made possible by the gifts of generous donors - have helped to reshape thinking around some of the most significant health challenges of modern times. TIMELINE: 10 years of achievement. Above ground construction of Charles Perkins Centre begins - 2012. Academic Director Steve Simpson AC appointed - 2013. World Health Organisation partnership promotes exercise, nutrition - 2013.
