Madrid, 1 March 2019 . The latest edition of the QS ranking, prepared by Quacquarelli Symonds, places two faculties of the Complutense University of Madrid in the top 50 worldwide. These are: the Faculty of Dentistry which occupies the 24th position and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine which reaches the 34th position.
The Complutense University occupies in this ranking in 2019 the position 206, improving 27 positions with respect to 2018.
The QS divides the degrees into 48 subjects, which are distributed within 5 major branches of knowledge: Art and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Administration. The UCM is included in all the rankings of each of these branches of knowledge, and in 32 of the thematic ones.
The UCM is in the top 100 of the branch of Art and Humanities, specifically in 85th place, 158th in Social Sciences, 175th in the branch of Sciences, 196th in Life Sciences and Medicine, and 226th in Engineering and Technology.
As for the thematic areas, in the branch of Art and Humanities, the UCM is among the top 100 worldwide in Archaeology, History, and Modern Languages. In the top 150 in Art and Design, and English Philology and Literature. And, the top 200 in Linguistics, and in Philosophy. They stand out especially for their academic reputation.
In the branch of Life Sciences and Medicine, the Complutense is very well rated in indicators of academic reputation and citations by scientific publications. The excellent position of Odontology (24) and Veterinary (34) has already been pointed out.
