On the occasion of the Chinese President’s visit to France, two agreements for International Associated Laboratories (LIAs) were signed at INRA Head Office in Paris on Tuesday 26 March by the President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) Dr Tang Huajun, and the President of INRA, Philippe Mauguin. These two LIAs are more examples of successful, high-level research collaborations between the two countries around global issues related to agriculture, food and the environment.

The two new French-Chinese International Associated Laboratories (LIA) are the following:

- The International Associated laboratory for Plant Protection, Bacteria-Plant-Insect Interactions for disease biocontrol, in partnership with INRA’s Institute of Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IEES Paris), INRA’s MICALIS Joint Research Unit for Food and Gut Microbiology for Human Health, the Sorbonne University and the Paris Saclay University in France, and for the CAAS, the Plant Protection Institute, in China.

- The International Associated Laboratory for Wheat Breeding and Genomics, in partnership with INRA’s Joint Research Unit for Genetics, Diversity and Ecophysiology of Cereals and Clermont-Auvergne University in France and for the CAAS, the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, in China.

These research projects, identified and prepared since the CAAS-INRA workshop held in Paris on 17 and 18 May 2018, play a part in the agroeocological transition and in food security and are part of the French-Chinese year of the environment.

With these two new agreements, INRA has signed a total of 15 LIAs with its international partners of excellence.
