Invitation to Members of the Press: #yeswecampus

Freie Universität Berlin kicks off the winter semester with a week full of activities / Photo opportunity and potential interviews to take place on October 4, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The winter semester at Freie Universität Berlin will kick off with a week of activities on campus starting Monday, October 4, 2021. The activities are open to the public. The upcoming semester will see a significant return to in-person teaching and other events on site. At the opening event, Freie Universität’s president, Professor Günter M. Ziegler, will leave his mark on the large letters installed on campus that spell out the university’s hashtag motto for the new semester: #yeswecampus. The letters are approximately 1.5 meters tall and stretch to about 20 meters in length. The university invites people to contribute their own thoughts, wishes, and impressions by writing messages on the temporary installation. The event will take place on October 4, at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Holzlaube building, Fabeckstraße 23/25, 14195 Berlin-Dahlem. University representatives will also be available to answer questions from the press.

The week of events runs through October 7 and includes food trucks, outdoor music performances, and information sessions. There will also be campus tours tailored to new students and those who started their studies during the pandemic and haven’t had a chance to discover Freie Universität’s campus. On October 4, students and employees of Freie Universität Berlin will also be able to get vaccinated on site. A vaccination station will be set up near the #yeswecampus event area. Advanced registration for vaccinations is not required.
