Joule Library closure and ID Manchester

As a consequence of the upcoming closure of the Sackville Street Building the Joule Library will close on Friday, 10 June 2022 at 5pm.

One of The University of Manchester’s key goals as it moves into its third century is to be recognised as the top university in Europe for innovation.

ID Manchester will be a significant step on that journey:

Closure of Joule Library

As a consequence of the upcoming closure of the Sackville Street Building the Joule Library will close on Friday, 10 June 2022 at 5pm.

Stock

In terms of stock, access will only be restricted whilst our collections are in transit. Most items will relocate to the Main Library and there are no plans to dispose of any material at this stage.

All items should be either on the open shelves or requestable via store by the start of the new academic year. We are looking at how to resolve urgent access requests over the Summer as a priority. Items on loan from the Joule Library can be returned to the Main Library after the planned Joule closure date.

The Library Spaces Operations group are at present communicating details of the confirmed closure date with academic and PS staff throughout the university alongside student focused channels.
