OPEN HOUSE 2023 - with special for prospective students

The School of Art and Design FHNW will open its doors to all those interested in art, design and culture on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 12 to 9 p.m. - on site at the campus on the Dreispitzareal in Basel as well as online in a 3D space at The program includes exhibitions of current projects from the various degree programs, a varied range of events with a focus on art and design, culinary offerings, and a special with information slots for prospective students.

During the annual Open House on January 20, 2023, prospective students will have the opportunity to get to know the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs of the School of Art and Design FHNW, ranging from Fine Arts, Industrial Design, Interior Design and Scenography to Fashion Design, Process Design at HyperWerk, Experimental Design, and Mediation of Art and Design to Visual Communication and Digital Spaces. You can wander through studios and labs, talk to teachers, researchers and students, and visit the Campus.workshops.

Starting at 12 p.m., students and those who want to be will get started with a warm soup served at Freilager Square. Afterwards, starting at 1 p.m., numerous info-slots will be offered in the study programs and Campus.Workshops, both on-site on campus and online. Questions about studying at the School of Art and Design FHNW will be answered at the info desk for prospective students.

The rich program of events includes several exhibitions, accessible only during the Open House, which offer insights into exciting projects and current works of students from the various study programs of the School of Art and Design FHNW. For example, the semester exhibition LOOK of the Industrial Design program, the Open Atelier of the Interior Design and Scenography program, the studio exhibition Visual Communication and Digital Spaces, and the exhibition of the Mediation of Art and Design program.

In the CIVIC, the new discourse and exhibition space in the foyer of the School of Art and Design FHNW, two new infrastructures will open with the Open House: the exhibition house and the Messy Kiosk. In this context, students invite to a swap meet, conversations and cold drinks. Because: "The most valuable thing we have at the School of Art and Design FHNW is the exchange", says a School of Art and Design FHNW student.

Visitors to the Open House will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an extremely colorful program that includes not only sound tours, audio walks, cinema screenings, video installations and group exhibitions, but also assemblages, bubbles, a cucumber bar, consultation hours, a safe space and a slow cooking course on the topic of "Nourishing and Healing through Plants. Talks, performances and concerts have also been announced.
