We are aware of a potential data security incident with the third party supplier PageUp, who provides software used during our recruitment processes. The University of Melbourne is among a number of organisations who may have been impacted.
There is no evidence at this stage that there is an active threat or that the data of University of Melbourne job applicants has been impacted. However, as personal information may be compromised we recommend that people who have applied for a position with the University of Melbourne check that there has been no unusual activity concerning personal information supplied during the recruitment process. The types of information potentially affected includes:
- date of birth, and
- employment, work rights and financial details, including work history, qualifications, citizenship status and tax file number.
The University of Melbourne takes data security very seriously and has sought a thorough response from PageUp, including the nature and extent of potential impacts. We are also conducting our own detailed internal investigations.
We are temporarily disabling links to the online recruitment system and encourage all job applicants to submit their application via e-recruitment [at] unimelb.edu (p) au.
While passwords do not appear to have been affected, it is good practice to regularly reset your passwords and not use the same password across multiple systems.
If you have any further queries you can access PageUp’s notifications on this issue and FAQs here. For further queries regarding your application or how to apply, please contact e-recruitment [at] unimelb.edu (p) au
