The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) is the federal government’s specialised agency for national and international matters concerning education, research and innovation policy. The SERI is responsible for the ETH domain (ETHZ, EPFL, Eawag, EMPA, PSI, WSL). The SERI is also partly responsible on the federal level for the cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and various research centers. The SERI is part of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research.
Switzerland and South Africa lay the foundations for stronger cooperation in research and innovation
On 23 September 2019, the head of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, Ms Martina Hirayama, met with the head of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, Ms Iris Rauskala, in Bern to share information and perspectives.
Bern, 5 September 2019 - Nicola Spaldin, Professor of Materials Theory at the ETH Zurich, has been awarded the Swiss Science Prize Marcel Benoist for her ground-breaking research into multiferroic materials, with which she has laid the foundations for new ultrafast and energy-efficient data storage technologies.
A high-level delegation of university rectors, led by Hossein Salar Amoli, Deputy Minister for International Scientific Cooperation, will visit Switzerland this week.
