University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

In the Service Unit of Cell Culture Core Facility (CCCF) TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (post-doc) limited to expected 3 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: April 2026.

Tasks:

• Support the organization and operation of the Cell Culture Core Facility including:
  • Development and maintenance of operational policies and procedures
  • Supervision and operation of main CCCF instruments
  • Training and technical support for facility users
• Perform research in collaboration with facility users
• Provide know-how in fluorescence microscopy (immunostaining, live-cell imaging, confocal and lattice light sheet microscopy), flow cytometry and molecular biology techniques/genetic modification of mammalian cells (CRISPR/Cas9, plasmid/viral vectors)
• Teaching and training of students
• Upkeep of equipment
• Assure compliance with safety regulations and university policies
• Train and manage personnel
• Procurement for the CCCF and coordination with the accounting / finance department (Quästur)
• Building and supporting a user network across at least four faculties of TU Wien; in a later development phase, potential expansion of the network to external academic and industrial users

Your profile:

• University degree and doctoral degree (PhD) in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field
• Serveral years of experience in mammalian cell culture, including primary cell culture, 3D cell culture models, PBMC isolation
• Extensive hands-on experience in flow cytometry, including fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), instrument operation and user training
• Extensive hands-on experience in fluorescence microscopy techniques, including immunostaining and confocal microscopy (laser scanning and spinning disk), as well as advanced imaging approaches such as lattice light-sheet microscopy
• Extensive experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. Western blotting, ELISA), genetic modification of mammalian cells (CRISPR/Cas9, plasmid/viral vectors), recombinant protein expression and histology
• Ability to communicate with and understand the requirements of scientists from different disciplines
• Experience in teaching and student supervision
• Ability to work in a team
• Ability to supervise and train employees
• Ability to organize own time and prioritize
• Excellent communication skills in English and German
• Very good computer literacy
• Previous experience in laboratory management or related activities, as well as research experience, is considered an asset

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 5,014.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
