Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

In our research group at ME Neuroradiology, Karolinska University Hospital, we are at the forefront of innovation in neuro-MRI. Here, cutting-edge methodological development meets real clinical impact as we create the next generation of pulse sequences and image reconstruction methods to enhance diagnostics for both adults and children. Through close, cross-professional collaboration with MRI nurses and neuroradiologists, we can rapidly translate new ideas into solutions that directly influence patient care, and the majority of our innovations are implemented clinically. We have also developed a streamlined pulse-programming environment that is shared internationally within the MRI research community, significantly shortening the time from concept to functional prototype. The result is a dynamic and creative research environment where technology and clinical practice come together to drive the field forward with speed and high impact.

Your mission

The applicant should be able to independently drive clinically relevant projects on brain and spine MRI within the group’s research focus. The research and development conducted should lead to technical scientific papers. Current focuses include 3D SWI-EPI, bSSFP, PROPELLER, radial imaging, novel spine pulse sequences, and ultra-fast multi-contrast MRI, all of which also involve motion correction strategies.

The employment as an Assistant Professor is time-limited for 6 years, with the right to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer.

Eligibility requirements

Those eligible for employment as an Assistant Professor are individuals who have been awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence. Preference should be given to those who were awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence no more than seven years, normally, prior to the expiry of the application period for the position as assistant professor.

Those who have been awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence earlier may however be considered if special grounds exist.

Special grounds refer to:

  • parental leave,
