'Encounter' Tate Triennial inspired art exhibition

Fine Art students at the University of Plymouth invite you to 'encounter' their work as they host a stunning art exhibition at the Royal William Yard (16-22 May 2009). The 'Encounters' art exhibition showcases the tremendous scope of the work of 60 2nd year Fine Art students, encompassing a wide range of media and techniques including painting, drawing, printmaking, film and installation. The 'Encounters' theme is inspired by the work of famed curator and critic, Nicholas Bourriaud of the Tate Triennial, which centres around the generation of empathy and formation of bonds between works. University of Plymouth Fine Art student, Kate Smith, who helped organise the event and will be displaying her work said; "The title of the show, 'Encounters', embodies the purpose of the exhibition - relationships and interaction within and amongst the exhibits, and with viewers. It challenges the students to explore and experiment with wide ranging interpretations of this theme." Entry is free and everyone is welcome. The exhibition will be open daily from 11am-7pm at The Brewer House, Royal William Yard, Plymouth, 16-22 May 2009.
