2011 Graduates: Dr Peter Radoll

Census data shows that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are 69 per cent less likely to have computers and the Internet at home than the rest of the Australian population. Peter's research across remote, rural and urban communities looked at why and found that a single model could be applied to all Indigenous communities to turn that around. He did all of this while raising and caring for guide dogs as well as six children, one of whom was born in the first year of his PhD. Obviously a nurturing soul, Peter has been Director of Tjabal Indigenous Higher Education Centre since 2007 which has expanded considerably since he started it, now including recruitment, postgraduate student support, teaching and research.
