ANU appoints its first Vice-President, Advancement
The Australian National University (ANU) has announced the appointment of the University's first Vice-President, Advancement, to lead the delivery of ANU alumni relations and philanthropy strategy. Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt AC said Barbara Miles would take up the position in May. Ms Miles joins ANU from the University of British Columbia (UBC), where she is Vice-President, Development and Alumni Engagement. Professor Schmidt said Ms Miles was a highly effective fundraiser and alumni engagement professional who would bring a wealth of advancement experience to ANU. "While at UBC Barbara established the university as a Canadian and international leader in fundraising and alumni engagement and she successfully completed Canada's largest ever fundraising and alumni engagement campaign which raised $1.6 billion and engaged more than 130,000 alumni," Professor Schmidt said. "Barbara is one of the best in the world at what she does, and is exceptionally well placed to lead advancement at ANU. We look forward to welcoming her to campus." Ms Miles said she was looking forward to joining ANU.
