ANU in global top 10 across a range of subjects: QS rankings

ANU has been ranked in the global top ten across seven different subject areas, according to the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by subject. ANU was ranked 6th in the world for modern languages, philosophy and geography and area studies, 9th in earth sciences and 10th for linguistics, environmental sciences and politics and international studies. The final round of subject area rankings were released by QS this week, completing its first-time survey covering 26 disciplines, across the world's top 200 universities. In other fields ANU placed 12th for history, 13th for sociology, 15th for law, 18th for mathematics and 20th for accounting and finance. ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young said the latest rankings reflected the quality of research and teaching activities at the University. 'These rankings are welcome news,' he said. 'As Australia's national university ANU strives to set the standard for teaching and research.
