In 2014, ANU strengthened its position as a celebrated place of intensive research, education and policy engagement - setting the standard on issues of national and international importance. The Australian National University (ANU) continued to strengthen its position as one of the world's leading universities in 2014 by increasing its research excellence and international student enrolments, while student satisfaction levels remained high. The University's annual report for 2014, tabled in Federal Parliament today, shows international student enrolments increased by 8.5 per cent from January to December 2014. ANU also enjoyed one of the highest student retention rates in Australia, at 93 per cent. The report said ANU enrolled more than 22,500 students in 2014, with more ranking their experience as excellent than the average for the Group of Eight universities. In research, the highest number of Laureate Fellowships in 2014 in Australia were awarded to ANU academics, with a total of 18 Laureate Fellows. Despite the challenges facing the higher education sector, ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young AO said the University forged ahead with improvements to administration systems and processes.
