ANU welcomes European Commission President

President of the European Commission, His Excellency José Manuel Barroso, is to discuss the relationship between Australia and the European Union at The Australian National University. President Barroso will address invited guests at an event on Tuesday hosted by the Centre for European Studies at ANU as part of the first visit to Australia by a Commission President in almost 30 years. The former Prime Minister of Portugal, Vice-President of the European People's Party and the current leader of the EU's executive branch, President Barroso plays a key role in European global affairs including in the G8, G20 and other international institutions.
