Professor Brian Schmidt received the Nobel Prize for Physics in a formal ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday. Awarded for the discovery that the universe is expanding at an accelerated rate, Professor Schmidt shares the prize with Saul Perlmutter and Adam Riess. Professor Schmidt attended the ceremony accompanied by his father, wife and sons, and several members of his research team. He was greeted by Sweden's King Carl Gustaf XVI and was seated with Crown Princess Victoria during the ceremony. "It's truly an honour I will never forget," said Professor Schmidt. "I've been really nervous about being bestowed with such an honour, it feels like it's beyond belief.
