CLOSE-SEARCH : project's final in the domain of Search and rescue
A FP7-funded project called CLOSESEARCH reaches its final phase. J. Skaloud has participated at the final demonstration in Spain, where an autonomously flown helicopter was assisting the simulated search operation for lost people. The TOPO laboratory contributed to the project by developing and integrating redundant inertial sensors to the navigation component that guides safely the helicopter during its operations in conditions where satellite positioning is perturbed or unavailable. The UAV-helicopter scans the pre-determined zones by flying over with a thermo camera, which data are live-streamed to the mission control centre for automated identification of human livings. The video comes from TV3 (Spain).
