Crews working on heating issue on campus
The University's office of Facilities Services is working to identify the source of a leak that was discovered on Dec. 1 in one of the steam tunnels that provides heat and hot water to the following buildings: All University buildings south of the Midway Plaisance; Breckenridge Hall; the Laboratory Schools; Charles M. Harper Center (Booth); Saieh Hall; the Oriental Institute; International House; Ida Noyes; 5825 S. Dorchester Ave. (Stein); the Alpha Delta Phi house at 5747 S. University Ave. McGiffert House; and Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. Heat and hot water have been restored in the affected buildings while the steam problem is addressed. Although indications are that service should continue normally tonight and tomorrow, workers with Facilities Services will continue to monitor temperatures in the buildings and are prepared to respond to reported outages. Crews will continue working during the night on this issue.
