Dark universe mission involving Durham scientists moves closer A major space mission to discover the nature of two mysterious substances believed to make up a large part of our Universe has taken another step forward. Euclid, which involves scientists at Durham University, will be one of the largest optical digital cameras ever put into space and aims to uncover the secrets of dark energy and dark matter. The European Space Agency said Euclid was ready for construction after announcing that Italian company Thales as prime contractor. The mission is due to launch in 2020.
