Distinguished pianist performs at Cardiff University

Distinguished pianist Malcolm Bilson, a pioneer of the historical performance movement, will give a recital at Cardiff University on Tuesday 4 October 2016. The concert, which launches the School of Music's 2016/17 Concert Series , will include performances of works by Mozart, Beethoven and CPE Bach. It will be preceded by an international symposium on historical piano performance practice on 3-4 October at the School of Music with participants from a range of universities including Cornell, Brown, and Berkeley. Professor Kenneth Hamilton, Head of the School of Music, will open the symposium, which will include presentations on piano sonority and melody, historical pianos, Glenn Gould, Liberace, and glass harmonica. A public lecture will be given by Malcolm Bilson on 'Historic Recordings vs Urtexts' at 4.30 pm on 4 October at the School of Music. All are welcome to attend. His fortepiano recital will close the symposium later that day at 7pm.
