Artists who can visualise mankind's dreams and nightmares could see their work showcased by the University of Cambridge. This year's Festival will look at some of the biggest challenges facing mankind; issues that could lead us to a better world - or a nightmare world if answers can't be found." - —Sophie Smith - The University's arts, humanities and social sciences festival, the Festival of Ideas is on the lookout for artists who can bring to life this year's theme of 'Dreams and Nightmares'. Festival Organiser Sophie Smith is to launch a competition that will see the winner's art adorn more than 25,000 Festival programmes and other publicity materials. The winner will also receive £200 prize money. She said: "This year's Festival will look at some of the biggest challenges facing mankind; issues that could lead us to a better world - or a nightmare world if answers can't be found. "We need someone who can bring this to life visually, someone who can sum up the duality of this year's Festival theme in powerful, inventive imagery." Entries to the competition will also feature as part of a digital exhibition on the Festival's website. Added Smith: "The response to last year's Face of the Festival competition was fantastic.
