Durham appoints new Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global)
Durham University has appointed its first Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global) following a competitive recruitment process. Professor Claire O'Malley, currently Vice Provost (Research and Knowledge Exchange) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, will take up her position on Monday 15 January, 2018. International agenda The post of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global) is a new addition to the University's senior leadership team. Professor O'Malley will be responsible for the strategic leadership and implementation of the University's international agenda , a key part of the University Strategy, 2017-2027 . Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor O'Malley will oversee the development of an International Study Centre at Queen's Campus, Stockton-on-Tees; the development of strategic partnerships with international peer institutions; the establishment of a Durham University presence in key global cities; work to increase study and work abroad opportunities for Durham undergraduates and work to increase the percentage of students from outside the UK studying at Durham to around 35% by 2027. Professor O'Malley will build strong networks internationally and strengthen the University's global profile. Claire will ensure that Durham continues to thrive as an institution that promotes inter-cultural learning and an ever stronger sense of global citizenship.
