Durham in World Top 30 for Arts and Humanities
Durham University has been recognised as a global leader in Arts and Humanities in a prestigious international league table. Durham maintained 29th position in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2018 for Arts & Humanities , published today. The rankings are published annually by the THE, which "judges world class universities across their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook". Arts and Humanities is a broad subject area consisting of a range of more specialised subjects including Theology and Religion , Philosophy , Music , Modern Languages and Cultures , History , English Studies , Classics and Ancient History and Archaeology. Strength in every subject Professor David Cowling, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Arts and Humanities) at Durham University said: "These latest world rankings demonstrate the continued international excellence of Arts and Humanities teaching and research at Durham University. "We have strength in every subject area and particularly value research-led education, allowing our students to develop skills which equip them well for future studies or the world of work. "Building on this success, we are growing a number of our programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, giving more students the opportunity to benefit from a Durham University education."
