Durham shares in £11m grant for arts and humanities Durham University is to share a £11.2 million grant to develop the next generation of researchers in arts and humanities following an intensively competitive bidding process. The funding was secured by a collaborative partnership of Durham, Newcastle University and Queen's University Belfast and is awarded by Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). It will be used to establish the Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Partnership, supporting 157 full-time postgraduate students over five years. The news follows recent success in prestigious international league tables for the arts and humanities at Durham, which were ranked in the World's Top 30 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013/14, a climb of 18 places from the previous year.
