Durham University dominate at the British University Team Sport Finals

Stunning performances by Durham's sports teams have led the University to victory in as many as 13 national finals in this year's acclaimed British Universities & Colleges Sports (BUCS) Championships. Durham University's teams put on a defiant display to take eight Championship (top tier) titles and five Trophy/Vase (second tier) titles in: Championship (top tier) titles Women's basketball 1s Men's fencing 1s Women's football 1s Men's hockey 1s Women's lacrosse 1s Women's table tennis 1s Men's tennis 1s Women's water polo 1s Trophy/Vase (second tier) titles Women's badminton 1s Women's hockey 2s Men's rugby 2s Men's tennis 2s Women's tennis 2s Quentin Sloper, Director of Experience Durham, said: "One of our key targets is to be Britain's Number 1 Team Sport University and we secured that status for the fourth year in succession. It's easy to take success for granted but, in truth, it gets harder each year. We won so many close contests including penalty flicks and tiebreak shoot-outs! "Our students yet again demonstrated their resilience and ability to deliver under pressure and that is one of the many reasons why we should be celebrating the success. The memories our students have made and the life lessons they have learnt will remain with them for years to come."
