Durham University makes English Lacrosse history
Durham has become the first ever University to be awarded the 'English Lacrosse High Performance University' status. This award recognises the quantity and quality of talent delivered through the lacrosse programme at Durham University. It is the first award of its kind and part of English Lacrosse's development of its Elite Playing Pathway. As a High Performance University, Durham will work closely with English Lacrosse in developing its programme which includes not only supporting talented players, but also developing student leadership and lacrosse participation within the university and wider community. Quentin Sloper, Head of Sport at Durham University, said: "This award is the result of working in partnership with English Lacrosse over the last five years to develop a programme which meets all requirements and standards. "We are committed to the development of lacrosse at all levels within the University and we are very excited to see the fruits of our success in the British Universities Colleges and Sport (BUCS) competitions and the growth of the sport in general at Durham." Many current male and female members of Team England attend or have attended university. The High Performance University programme at Durham gives prospective talented students the confidence that they will receive quality coaching and competition, in addition to other types of support such as strength and conditioning coaching and physiotherapy.
