Danielle Liniger - Four researchers from the University of Bern will receive the coveted Starting Grants from the European Research Council (ERC). Plant researcher Christelle Robert wants to use the grant to understand the interactions between plants and the natural enemies of pests, while economist Christoph Oberlack is investigating new ways of establishing environmental justice. Pathophysiologist Ziad Al Nabhani is investigating the influence of early childhood nutrition on the immune system, and chemist Tomás Solomek is exploring new ways to better understand and use a material of the future. Yesterday, the European Research Council (ERC) announced the names of researchers who will receive the coveted Starting Grants. The Starting Grants are part of "Horizon 2020", the European Union's framework programme for research and innovation. Four researchers from the University of Bern are among those who will benefit from the grants.
